Andrew L. Fitzgerald

Andy Fitzgerald is an experienced trial lawyer with 20 years of experience in state and federal courts in North Carolina and Virginia.

Andy began his career at a large firm in Richmond, Virginia. He moved to Winston-Salem when he and his wife decided to start a family.

In Winston-Salem, Andy worked for about 6 years at Womble Carlyle, then the largest firm in the state. At Womble, Andy tried numerous jury trials ranging from business litigation, personal injury, construction, and insurance coverage. He also worked on complex cases and learned about complex litigation. He left Womble in 2009, and since 2015 he has been the sole owner of Fitzgerald Litigation in Winston-Salem.

Andy has litigated almost any kind of case that can be litigated. He focusses his practice on complex business and fiduciary litigation and representing victims of sexual abuse.

Having tried more than 40 jury trials to verdict, Andy is comfortable in the courtroom. He has frequently spoken at CLE presentations on issues ranging from jury selection to expert witness development. He also frequently is awarded accolades such as selection to North Carolina’s Legal Elite and Super Lawyers, and he is one of the youngest lawyers in North Carolina to be named to Legal Elite’s Top 100.

Andy recently joined forces with attorney Doug Hanna to form the litigation boutique known as Fitzgerald Hanna & Sullivan, PLLC.

Personal

Andy was a high school All American swimmer at North Allegheny, where his team won the PIAA state championship in 1994. He is married to the love of his life, Abby. Abby and Andy have four kids. He spends his free time chasing his kids around. Andy also regularly competes in obstacle course races and triathlons. Occasionally, Andy can be found practicing yoga or riding his mountain bike with his son.
