The New York Times is reporting that a prominent promoter of European football is in a court battle that includes the head of European football involving a noncompete agreement that he claims inhibits him from showcasing three of Europe’s most renowned football clubs (Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus) in America.

The piece is linked above. The piece is long and full of the common intrigue in employee departure litigation (and, for that matter, European football) but I’ll showcase this great quote texted by the head of UEFA to the American promoter regarding his association and intended representation of these three storied clubs: “They tried to destroy UEFA, football, and me personally.” Will report back on this one as we learn more.
